You talking about Davy Crockett? Haven't been in a long time but I bet that ramp would not work for my 18.5 Ranger right now, unless I had water up to the bottom of the door on my pickup.

Spent 5 days there in July. Have no Idea what the conditions are now, however the lake was full then. Give the guys a call at the forest office there. They should be able to give a report. If the ramp at Coffee Mill is ok, I would suggest fishing it. I've done much better there.

...Give the guys a call at the forest office there... I called the US Forest Service listed on TP&W for Coffee Mill and Davy Crokett at 940-627-5475 and the guy I talked to gave me another number local to those lakes 903-378-2103. He said they're out a lot and probably need to leave a message. I did call that number and left a message a week ago and still haven't heard back. The ramp at Davy Crockett is angled so that I have to get my back wheels pretty far in the water to launch when the water is normal pool and with the low water everywhere, I doubt I could launch there now. But I would imagine Coffee Mill would be OK, since it's a much steeper ramp.

I would think the mats of grass would be more then issue at crockett. It was pretty choked off last time I was there. Coffe Mill is probably a good bet.

I just remembered something and should have shared previously... When I was there in early July, I went swimming at the Coffee Mill ramp and noticed there was about a 3'vertical prop wash drop at the end of the ramp. Wouldn't want to drive over it. So back very slowly and watch out for it. Had the same experience with the fishing. Lots of grass on DC and caught a ton of fish but they were all small. CM should be better.

I was able to talk to one of the guys at the alternate number and he said the water was a little low but the ramp was fine and completely accessible. We'll give 'er a try. I also have had to back down pretty far to launch my boat at normal pool level. If it looks sticky, we'll head over to Coffee Mill. Thanks again to all who replied!
