Well we've all wanted to see it happen. B.A.S.S. has stepped up to the plate and is having a tournament at a location that none of the field will know about. No practice time months in adavance and no waypoint sharing. This should be interesting.

Sounds like B.A.S.S. didn't like the idea of Major League Fishing competing with B.A.S.S. All of MLF's tournaments will be on "mystery" lakes, except the first on Amistad. Here are some excerpts of Jerry McKinnis' letter to the Elites. http://bassfan.com/docktalk.asp?id=8379#8379

Interesting. Sounds like some anglers have been getting some info, when it was off-limits.

I like it. In a perfect world all tournament anglers, at all levels, would have to rely on nothing more than their own abilities to find and catch fish. Too many tournaments turn into nothing more than who has the best sources and can get the best information.

I say make them spin around in circles with their head on a baseball bat...then let em go fish!

Any guesses what the mystery lake will be?

Send them to Africa...I bet they haven't bass fished there!

I will help, but information travels fast. The top guys will have all the waypoints and info they need an hour after the lake is named.

I like the idea of driving/flying them to a "blind location" (blindfolds, burlap sacks, unmarked vehicles, etc ) with no prior knowledge and turn 'em loose on the water...

They could declare it an off-limits period, once they announce the lake. That way, the anglers would have time to make their travel accommondations, but still not be able to gather information. No practice would be interesting too.

Only way to do it is like they used to do the Classics. Sequester them. Load em up on a plane, have the boats and trucks already there and fly straight to the airport nearest the venue. Take them from there to the venue, keep them locked up in the hotel with no cells or internet. Put them on the lake the next day. They can practice during the tournament!

I'm disappointed they have stuck with 8 tournaments. I know a lot of these guys would like an expanded season. Let's do away with the ridiculous post season and make it a 12 tournament season.
