Without having a MGX to try, I wouldn't know. I do have 3 Cores and absolutely love them. They are light and very smooth, but they should be for what they cost.
I really want to try a Steez. I'm thinking that has to be one sweet reel.

I really want to try the MgX when the are readily available. BoomBoom I had a steez and sold it, to me it was a good reel but wasn't worth the price. Many people love them.

the new lews speed spool reels were among my favorites at Icast. not diss'n these other reels, but for the price point, i wouldn't hesitate to try out a lews.

I really want a 50mg core but I hate that it doesn't hold much line. I fish with 20lb floro a lot and the core would probably only hold around 55-60 yards.

I hate braid so that isn't an option.

Daiwa has always put out a good product. Just alot of money. I pair the Cores I have with Kistler Z-Bones. Makes for a really light set-up. I really like light-weight reels and for the money, the Quantum Smoke is pretty nice too.

Be a real man and check out a Steeze. Better balance and more refined than the Shimanos.

Funny you mention that because I just picked up a Smoke SL100SPT but I have not had a chance to try it yet. I also need to get a Z-bone soon. When I got my first LTX's 4-5 years ago I was blown away by them but I have yet to buy a z-bone.
