My son's pickup started having problems the the brakes at 14,000. He would be driving then all of the sudden the truck would start shaking until he pulled over. Took it Dodge and they said rotors were warped due to his tires being out of balance. They turned the rotors and put new pads. He the day after he got it out of the shop it started again. When he got home his rotors were sizzling hot. They turned the rotors again. Still does it. The brakesw keep trying to seize when he is driving. They told him well we can't figure it out so just drive it until they go out.

Anyway it's been in the shop 5 time in three months. I was wondering if anybody had heard anything like this.

Drive it till they go out!!! that was their honest response?

I dont think so they need to be finding out what is the problem, not just turning rotors and new pads. They need to fix that it is a safety issue, I would be looking at calipers.

i would call the owner of the dealership and tell him what you just said "drive it until they go out"... then ask him what he's gonna do when someone is killed and your lawyers are knocking on HIS door for liability and negligence.

better yet, I would call Chrysler HQ and talk to them about it and tell them what you were told. That's a BUNCH of bullchit! Whoever told you that needs to be flipping burgers at McD's !

and I would make damn sure they know you need a comparable vehicle to drive whey they are "attempting" to repair yours.

redchevy is right, the calipers are sticking or there is an issue with the ABS system running.

He dropped it off on Tuesday afternoon. Called the yesterday and the service manager wasn't in so he asked for the dealership manager. They put him in his voice mail and still no response He called Dodge Corp told him he wanted to file a complaint and they ask his name number and the problem. Then said OK we have it down. Now he's thinkg ing about getting a lawer and see what his options are....all he wants is his truck fixed

he should call back to the Dodge Corp and tell them he is very dissatisfied and if he doesnt hear something by the end of the day, his lawyer will be in contact with them as the next step.

wow thats shocking that the dealer techs said that. if they wont fix it, id find another dealer and get a lawyer after the other one. and get dodge to buy the truck back. thats a total safety issue.

Let me know the outcome of this. I to own a 2011 dodge, notice my breaks making a short squeak when I apply them. I have been attributing it to cheap pads and the dust. Also may check into texas's lemon law. If remember correctly if same prob occurs 3 times can be replaced with new.

k...just conferred with an attorney friend. Suggested having you son send an email to the dealership and the corp. hq. stating returning the vehicle to dealership(date and time) for repair and will need them to respond in writing what the prob. is and the solution to repair even if it is as stated "drive till go out". If won't do have them keep the vehicle until repaired properly and inform will need loaner. If the same prob has occured 3 times send them a demand letter quoting the lemon law, informing them that you simply want the vehicle repaired. If the problem is not resolved then hire an attorney....can then get attorney general involved and request your attorney fees be paid by them since they failed to resolve the problem leaving you with no other options. Hope this helps...

yea thats what it says but the dealer will never say its the same thing 3 times, i tried it on my last truck. it really was the same thing in my opinion, but the dealer always found a way out.

was told doesn't have to be the same repair, the same problem is what will get to the lemon law. Then there are other things that have to be met which is where the attorney would come in....can get the name of but is local. Would have to call to see if practice in your area...

Man that sounds almost sounds like the dreaded "death wobble". Does he have a lift and/or oversize tires?

Out of balance tires causing warped rotors? Wow that is a good one! Maybe there are multiple issues here. Out of balance tires will definitely cause death wobble especially if there is an alignment problem.

Brakes will be super hot in this 110 degree weather even if there is nothing wrong. Just saying...

He still has the factory rims with BF Goodrich tire same size. We picked it up tonight and they had changed the master cylinder. I told him if that was the problem stey still owe him new rotors and his money they charged him for $180.00 brake job they did.

They were supposed check the balance on the first trip.

We'll see what happens now. I know his gas milage has dropped big time since all this started.

its a known problem from what i gathered. Its due to the wheels not being torqued properly is what i was told. Mine were replaced at 21k miles and not a prob since.
