Has anybody been to Reimer's since the rains last week? I was wondering how muddy it is.

There is a post on the white bass/striper page that says the water has cleared up. I'm going to go ahead and give it a try in the morning. I'll post a report.
Thanks,
John

The water has cleared and the surface temp was 49 degrees first thing in the morning. I didn't catch a thing. Hopefully later in the week things will improve. If only we could get a couple of warm, sunny days to help jump start things again.

Went to Reimer's this AM. Fishing wasn't great, but there were fish being caught before the cold started blowing in - once the weather cooled off, so did the fishing. I was there until about noon and caught four - the guy I was with had about eight when I left. Talked to two other guys there who said they had gotten about 10 apiece. This was my first time there so I don't know how the water conditions would compare to "normal" - seemed like the water clarity was okay, but it was probably a bit higher than normal.

Thanks for the encouraging report. I'm going to leave work early tomorrow and give it a try. Hopefully this cool front won't have them sluggish tomorrow.

The water can be very clear at Reimer's, especially during dry periods. Slightly off-color water is usually an advantage.

I'll post a report tomorrow.

An update to my last post:

Last night I talked to the guy that I was fishing with yesterday. Right after I left (early afternoon) nobody was catching much, so he went home. Later in the afternoon whe the skies cleared up, he went back to try it again, and he said everybody was catching quite a few (late afternoon and evening) - I think he said he caught about 25 more after he went back...

I fished from 1:30 to 6:00 today and caught around 30 white bass. Most of them were small, but a few were close to 12 inches. I caught them in front of the gravel parking area on the far bank where the channel runs. I was using a sinking line and very small (about 1.5 inches) grey and white clousers. I pretty much let the fly drift downstream only giving slight twitches. The take was very light.

I'm going to give it a try Saturday, first time to that area. I tied up a bunch of streamers and ghost shrimp to try out, I hope they work!

Saturday was a good day to be out on the river.. Everybody was catching fish and I did OK once I got headed in the right direction.. upstream to the first rapids where I caught 4 in about two hours. Some other flyfisherman did and were doing well on chartruce clousers or streamers, I spent my time testing several patterns I had tied up but couldn't find anything that worked consistantly. It's a good place to go but kind of far for me.
