Good news! They've been catching trout in the Guadalupe River! They DIDN'T all die. TPWD has been stocking, too, so it shouldn't be long before the river recovers.

ALSO

Tomorrow (Thursday) they're stocking Blue Hole in Georgetown. I'm taking the afternoon off!

That's great to here Justin! I heard that they had all died over on the Guad, and that it would take several years to recover fully. Good luck tommorow at Blue Hole, catch a few for me.

Life's tenacity is always amazing, no matter how many times it surprises it still surprises!

After seeing the footage of that river and what it was running at my hat is off to those trout that managed to stay on station (or nearby).

Let us know how you do today Justin

I caught 8 and the guy with me caught his first trout. It was fun... we got to the river about 1 right when the clouds began breaking. The sun came out and it was a glorious evening. There were about 15 ppl there fishing. The water was stained, so you couldn't see the fish, but they were being caught anyway.

I used a little Matt's Bug and tied an A&W (think rootbeer float colors) dropper about 18" back. I caught fish on both equally. The 16" bass was a nice bit of icing on the trout cake!

Hmm... I've been hearing some rumours... (*white bass running*)

Well went there today and found out how silly my question is. Me and a friend fished for about 2 hours from the bank. got a couple nibbles but dident land one. We stayed right where the road drives by the creek. Is downstream on the other side of the bridge any good? we could see them popping the water on the other side of the bank near the cliffs but wind and my lack of great casting skill would not let me fish for them. We are going back tomorrow for another pass at them.

I highly suggest staying close to the dam ... and even ON The dam if you have some boots. Go deep and move slow, but have a stiff rod to set that hook, because you have to be quick.

Some of the trout did survive...I've had reports for a few months of fish being caught around the dam and Horseshoe by fishermans using black wooly bugger, red San Juan worms, and pistol petes..Fishermans Corner,FM 306 at Canyon Lake, carries a good selection of trout flies and baits...Its been nice to have a place close to the lake to purchase items at a reasonable price..
