pulled lower unit off put back together now have to almost put in reverse to get in nuetral and when in reverse it nocks 200 johnson what did i do wrong

You probably have the shift shaft and the throttle lever out of sync. Pull the lower and manually move the shift shaft until it is in neutral. Make sure the throttle is also in neutral and re-stab it.

I had the same problem with my 70 hp evinrude. The problem is at some point or other you turned the shift shaft in or out some, which makes it shorter or longer.
I was told how to remedy it by one of the techs on here, for my motor I believe they said to pull the lower unit, put in neutral, screw the shift shaft all the way in, then turn it back out 7 turns, fixed mine right up.

Yeah, i just looked up my old post, mine was doing the same thing you described and I needed to adjust my shift shaft, take the lower unit off screw the shaft clockwise till it bottoms out, then turn 7 turns counter clockwise and it should be good.

My "rule of thumb" for the shift rod is, screw it in all the way. Then back it out 3 full turns. This usually puts you in the ball park where your shift cable will take up the remaining adjustment.
