For year I just used lead bullet style weights. About three years ago I started with the tungsten and then never really thought twice about it.
Now the question was brought up to me today, "What is the purpose of inserts in the weights?".
I told him I would ask the TFF and let him know tomorrow.

To keep from fraying your line as their bore holes are not polished. I prefer the polished over inserts, but use both.

I have used both and I prefer not having the inserts but with the price increase on everything fishing I now buy the ones with inserts bc they are cheaper. There is a guy on here can't remember his name but he sells tungsten with inserts for a very good price.

To keep from fraying your line as their bore holes are not polished. I prefer the polished over inserts, but use both. Yes. The first ones that came out would fray your line causing lots of cussing after a hook set(at least from my boat). Another tip: Don't use tungsten weights with GLASS beads on a c-rig.when fishing around rocks. The tungsten is so hard if you bang the weight hard and it slams against the glass bead, the bead will chip around the hole and cut your line. I can't tell you the number of fish or tourneys that cost me before I figured that out. Use plastic beads with tungsten.
