Any one heard of this, I hear that there are several miles of dead fish in the red river from love county OK. to big mineral. and today my partner called and said that the boat ramps in big mineral were possible closed because of this. we have a tournament there in a couple of weeks, would like to know if this has any truth to it. thanks

I heard about dead fish on the banks way up in the river backwaters where fish were landlocked in shallow water. I worked all day on the water at Cedar Bayou Marina and haven't see a dead fish. Nothing out of the ordinary in my neck of the woods on the west end. Lots a beautiful 4 inch shad balled up right on the bank in Cedar Bayou in the afternoon when the water reaches warmest surface temp. Bait looks healthy. Our ramp in open.

The Lebanon area had a bunch of dead fish 2 weeks ago. I drove through there yesterday and everything I saw was old and dried up. I haven't seen anything dead on the main lake.

I know of boat ramps being closed, but it's because the lake is so low. The main ramp at catfish bay has been closed for 3 weeks.

This is the same thing that I have heard from several people that I work with that catfish on the river. Originally they had told me that word was a chemical spill, but now they are thinking that it has been fish that where trapped in low water. Or that the oxygen was just so low. The dead fish from the river will make it down river into the lake though. I can't find anything on texoma being closed though.

I know someone who lives on the river north of Nocona, he said there were a bunch of giant catfish killed, he said they were trapped in small holes and the lack of rain and the heat depleted the oxygen in the water.

That's what has happened in the Lebanon area also. Huani creek, hickory creek and Wilson creek all have a big fish kill. I didn't realize how many fish are in those waters. We need some rain to get some movement and circulation in those shallow waters.

I just hope we did not lose a large amount of the big blues that spawn up there. I am afraid many of them may have got caught by the dropping water.

I used to fish the river a lot back in the late 80's early 90's. hate to see those big blues go to waste, but on the other hand sure glad that it is not affecting the lake.

charger, it's about 5 feet low. Lots of shallow to mid depth brush is dry or exposed.

He said there were many giant Blues and Flat Heads, said it was discusting, they went up river when we had those big rains back in June, river went down quickly because of the low lake level, he said when the wind is in the wrong direction he can't hardly stay at home.
