I have not been back to Texas for a few years now - heard last year that sandies were in Fork. I saw the sandies in Ray Roberts and always felt that was part of the reason why the bass fishing there was never quite as good as Fork and/or that the bass were affected by the competition for forage. What is happening at Fork or your opinions of the sandies there?

All I know is that Bass eat Sandies...cant understand why that would hurt Fork...but then again, I'm just a silly printer who really dont know much!

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

I'm not really sure how they have affected the largemouth as of now. I am still catching fish where I have in the past, but the sandbass are mixed in. Only time will tell if the sandies will have a negative impact or not. I will say that if you catch them keep all the legal ones that you can.

Tiger- I was at for 2 weeks ago, I caught a ton of LMB and had good quality fish. The only time the sandies got in my way was during crappie fishing. LMB will eat juvenile sand bass. Plus, the bass I caught seemed to be healthier than ever. Chunky fish.

Ken-

Yah, bass eat sandies.

Though the 2lbers may be a bit more than they can chew. Lots of the bastages running around deep...I should start a sand bass charter service and get a center console boat.

Get a 30' pontoon with a bimini top for that. You could charge cheap and get enough anglers to reduce population. Plus, one heck of a fish fry afterwards

We ran across a school of them out off of Little Mustang point that had to be 200 yards long and 100 feet wide. We need to continue to push the sand bass tournament idea.

I usually throw them back in the water and sometimes they accidentally hit the side of the boat on their return frown
