I broke my fluke rod and its the one rod I never can seem to find the right one for fishing flukes. I am looking at the dobyns savvy 733 (I like a stiffer rod but lots of tip) and dont wanna dish out for the champion series since I have too many rods as it is hmmm any thoughts on this rod, or what rod do you guys like for flukes.

The 733 will be perfect. The extra 3" of length really helps on hooksets especially if you are throwing a fluke in clear water and long casts are needed. plus it doubles as a great wacky worm rod, weightless stickbait and shakyhead/drop shot rod.

I have two savvy 733c and they are great for flukes or senkos.

Seems like 7.3ft is too long for me to work a fluke. Keep slapping the water. Something to think about.

I have not had that issue. Almost all my rods are 7'3 or longer.

Either 703 or 733 will work just fine. I'm with Mark in that I tend to use the longer rods these days. The extra casting distance and leverage fighting a fish is better.

With a fluke, its not hard to keep the longer rod to the side just a little bit, there's not much resistance and not usually twitching/jerking/pulling that hard to make the angle weird. With a hard jerkbait however, I like a shorter rod.

Dobyns Customer Service is great. They just took care of me recently, quickly. Will buy nothing else.

6ft or a little taller actually. Must have long arms! or the basscat sits lower to the water

Any thoughts on the savvy series rods. I am slowly replacing my kistlers since they seem to be popping left and right. Does the 733 have a soft tip but hefty backbone?

If you were closer I would let you borrow some..I picked up my first savvy series 8 or so months ago and have slowly been selling my other rods to change over to Dobyns exclusively.

I have Savvys as well as a Champion. Savvy is a great rod and will make a nice fluke rod for sure. Champion is better balanced but for fishing a fluke and rod pointed down more won't matter as much I wouldn't think.

They are both sensitive. More difference in balance than sensitivity in my opinion btwn Savvy and Champion.

The Duckett 6'9" MH might be of interest.
