About how much does it cost to replace the transom on a 30 year old 16 foot fiberglass boat with a 115 outboard?

If you do it yourself with Seacast about $1000. If you hire a pro at least $1500

Like Hop says the Seacast will depend on how much you have to buy-also how many tools you need to purchase to clean out the old rotten and wet wood-ie a chainsaw...but mine ended up being a little more than I had hoped because the Interlux paint was not inexpensive.

priced my champion today just out of curiosity, came to a little over 525.00 total. I have all the tools I would need that is just the seacast and glass/resin for some structrual add ons I want. bulk of cost was seacast 10 gals.

A friend of mine used seacast and it worked out well for him. If I had to have a transom replaced I would go with seacast.

Just seems like it ends up escalating with other things-live new bilge and aerator pumps and drains

I just did mine and was going to use Sea Cast but found something that is better and a little cheaper. Its called Arjay it was around 200 for 5 gallons if your boat is the size of mine 5 gallons will be more than enough, I have a 17ft Skeeter its not that hard just make sure you get all the wood out and use a chain saw inside the transom to get it out. If you have any questions send me a message.

The transom is solid as a rock, I have ran it hard since fixing it and can't be happier with the results. If you had it done professionally cheap end would be around 2000.

Looks good-you are correct about cleaning out the old wood no matter which product you choose
