THE 14TH ANNUAL CAMP CAVETT KIDS FISHING DERBY

SATURDAY, JULY 16th

CATFISH BAY MARINA, LAKE TEXOMA

ANY OF YOU FOLKS IN SHERMAN, DENISON, GAINESVILLE, OR OTHER PARTS OF NORTH TEXAS.....WE NEED 75-80 VOLUNTEERS TO BRING BOATS AND TAKE 150 KIDS FROM OKLAHOMA CHILDREN�S HOSPITAL ON A HALF-DAY FISHING TRIP. THESE KIDS ARE ALL OUTPATIENTS AT THE HOSPITAL AND SPEND SO MUCH TIME UNDERGOING VARIOUS TREATMENTS FOR THEIR AILMENTS THEY DON'T GET TO DO "KID STUFF" LIKE GO FISHING. SOME ARE SERIOUS ANGLERS, OTHERS JUST LIKE TO GO FOR A FAST RIDE IN A BASS BOAT! THIS IS A "FISH-FOR-ANYTHING" DERBY FOR THE KIDS WITH PRIZES FOR THE TOP THREE IN EACH CATEGORY: BLACK BASS, PANFISH, CATFISH, STRIPER OR ROUGH FISH. A FREE COOKOUT FOR EVERYONE WILL FOLLOW.

BOATERS MUST ARRIVE BY 6 AM. AND REGISTER WITH CAMP STAFF . YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED FROM 1 TO 3 CAMPERS + A COUNSELOR DEPENDING ON HOW MANY PEOPLE YOUR BOAT CAN ACCOMMODATE. TACKLE, BAIT AND LIFE JACKETS FOR THE KIDS ARE PROVIDED (ALTHOUGH IF YOU HAVE SMALL OR MEDIUM ADULT LIFE VEST, BRING THEM). THE WEIGH-IN IS AT 11:00 AM BEFORE IT GETS REALLY HOT.

Would love to do this again. Had a blast the last time i was able to make it. Unfortunately I have a tournament that day on Texoma.

If you have a boat and are able to help out at this event, please show up for the kids. I have done it once and had an absolute blast. The smiles on their faces is worth more than words can explain. It might be a once on a lifetime experience for some of the kids. If you you have that Saturday free and can spend a few hours on the lake helping out, you'll have a memory for lifetime

Getting desperate here...only 30 boats signed up and we need 60-70 to get all the kids fishing at the same time. If you live near Texoma please consider helping out for half a day on Saturday, July 16th. If you know someone who can help out, please pass the word about this event.
