Zombie, I couldn't agree more. I've just been having fun with Hirsch and he's been ribbing me. All in good nature and no hard feelings I hope. My opinion is just that and nothing more. Interesting to me to discuss the various things that have come up and see other's input. I have lots more questions now in my mind regarding hunting and fishing the river as it applies to me. I've hunted and fished the Bosque, Brazos, Trinity, and others here in Texas as well as other states. For instance, I've fished and hunted sloughs, side channels, and feeder creeks. Some were with permission or lease from a landowner, others that I believe were public. I can see now how the case could be made either way depending on lots of circumstances. High water or low water conditions, the width of the river banks, etc. may all be a factor.

You do not have to like me. If I am being unreasonable, could please give me an example? I really do not intend to be and really would like to consider myself reasonable.

I am not sure I put anybody down. I know I did not put you down. Once again, could you provide an example to support your claim I "put down and speak with the nastiness of a "wanna be" bully."?

I do not see my self as "holier" and especially "than thou"!

You asked "Are you enjoying this?"
YES
I do enjoy a good discourse. I tend to defend my postion passionately and I can understand how that may be misconstrued.

As far as "come and go" I know that I do not have much history on this forum and have perhaps overstepped and/or stepped on some toes here. I hope in time you will find me to be a constructive member of this forum. I have received some very helpful information here and hope to return in kind.

I do not remember calling you weak or even thinking anything about your fortitude or lack there of. Although, You have kind of made some judgments about me and I do hope you feel compelled to support or alter those judgements.

I have made some judgments on the person at the center of this topic, Levi McCathern. Perhaps I have made a rush to judgement in his case. He has made it really Hard not to, indicated by his words "My wife probably doesn't like it as much as she should, I've been pretty big since I killed this alligator.”

Sorry to disappoint.

BTW I am a big fan of the old cartoon the Mighty Heros. Diaper Man was my favorite, but cuckoo man did have his moments.

My wife has been rolling her eyes as well.

I think overall most of us seem to have similar points of view with subtle differences. I do hope and think the general consensus is not "Kill 'EM ALL".

Nobody talked about hooking a fish and having a giant gator grab it and take off down the lake with your yak in tow.

If that is not a hoot, nothing is.

Ren, sorry you are disappointed. smile

When you realize that you are calling for a bit of respect and fair play for a fellow sportsman while the other guy is arguing from a base of some mystical, mythical form of a soul in animals and trees then reason and hope is lost.

Better to shut it down. Maybe later when things cooled down a thread on how we treat fellow sportsmen will be in order. I will wait for it.:)

Again with unsubstantiated attacks on me or my point of view without addressing the real question.

I never said any thing "mystical", or about the "soul". I am the first to admit that I would not know a soul if it walked into a room without its body.

Respect and fair play would be not making [censored] up and attacking me based on that made up stuff.

This is what happens to people when they pose a difficult question that requires people to look into their own foundation of their points of view. We attack the person and avoid the question that causes us to look into ourselves.

I have seen way to much DEATH. I know how truly fragile life is. It is perhaps from this perspective, that few can understand unless you have been there, that I have posed the dreaded question that everyone has avoided.

What Gave Levi McCathern the right/justification to take the life of this animal. I heard his reasons during his interview and found them lacking.

SO now I ask you, and because I put myself out there I get attacked. You don't want to do the hard work.

Karpbuster,

What kind of line do you fish with? Anchor or tow? banana

What a fun ride that would be.

gar fisherman,
No reason to be sorry. Are you just saying you met him or were you going to say something about him? If you know him point him the direction of this thread. I would really like to hear his take on things. I understand as a guide it is his livelihood and I do respect that.

The only thing I don't like about him is he kills giant alligator gar for fun and he doesn't do anything with them.
