Everytime I connect the NMEA 2000 power cable I blow the fuse. I even went black wire straight to battery neg and red wire to batt positive. Soon as I connect + it blows the fuse. Unless there is a break in the wire some place way along the cable sheath I'm perplexed.

Second part is the unit also says GPS Module not responding. It worked when I got it from the previous owner cause when it come on the map shows his house location. I guess the last time it was on.

Any help would be appreciated

I would start trouble shooting your nmea net work and the to gps ant. Do you have a mix match nmea cords and T's.. example the old blue net work vs the new small blk net work cables and T's etc.

Nope everything is how it was when it was working correctly.
This unit and all accessories came off a boat that I installed his new unit on. Boxed up everything, brought it home and a week later I am installing it on my boat. Just like the instructions show. Totally puzzled! I'm going to take the unit to AlStar marine and have them test the Puck and the unit. Will see what happens.

Had that happen to me in April. Found out it was a bad EP-85 temp probe. To troubleshoot, take everything off network, put a new fuse. If itpops it could be a network cable or a bad tee.If it don't pop add probes one at a time then add gps module. You should be able to pinpoint problem fairly easy. PM me if you need more help.

H-D, tried that. Still popped when I added the NMEA. Can't really pipoint anything since 3 different cables go into that one connector on the back of the unit. The T's only are only for the GPS, so that made no difference concerning the fuse blowing.
Jason-I called them today and plan to get out there this week. Have the GPS and the unit tested. But I will also use that PDF file instructions and see where that gets me. Hadn't found that one in my search. Thanks
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll report what i find out.

Army, With your cable disconnected, take a multimeter, put it on resistance or ohms and place the pos. end on the positive wire and neg. lead on the neg wire. If you get a reading you have a short in your harness. If it reads 0.0, your head unit is screwed.
