I do hope he did eat some gator. Its good I have had some myself. Seeing as the guy did not even recover the carcass himself I doubt he ate any. He is probably just waiting for the taxidermy bill. The storys of the hunt are very inconsistent.

Just to let you know I have spent 20+ years trying save and better human life. First serving our country as a Navy Corpsman and Then taking care of critically ill children as a RN. I did it with more passion than I am with this post. I hope that satisfies your curiosity.

It does, Thank you.

And thank you for serving our country.

You haven't posted enough to get to know you yet and this was all I was seeing of you....

Fish Fear Me

Wow, how do you know why I fish?
Is this your valid reasoning for your relocate'um logic?

This is an ignorant comment if I ever heard one..."Are you going to build a big ARK and send them into outer space." There are such things like zoos, alligator/crocodile refuge all over. Any zoo or refuge would've love to have a specimen like this one. I'm not sure you're thinking about what you're saying either. You seem to be so blinded by the senseless killing of the gator to see other view points.

What's more logical/ethical...to wait and see if a loose wild animal will take a human life 1st before considering it to be a threat to humans or worst it get killed by a hunter (which is what happened) OR capture said wild animal put in a zoo/refuge that will take care & protect it, people can come and see it if they want & it still be alive and not mounted in some lawyer's office? An average person will not go out & try to see a wild animal if there's any risk of injury/death, but they will in a zoo/refuge.

We do agree that the gator should not have been killed. What we don't agree on is what should've be done about the gator. You want to leave it be. I would've liked it to be saved and put in a refuge for all to see and marvel its size & age. The zoo/refuge would gotten a chance to reproduce it by mating it with another. In the wild, the chances of that would be very slim as compared to a controlled mating.

I really want to post something, but Its really not that important to me. I have other things to worry about. I am not jealous that a person had a bunch of money and hunted and killed a giant animal if it was done legally. The laws are in place for a reason. People hunt "trophies" all over the world. Im not one of them, but thats how it is.
Lets get worked up about something we can do something about.

Ren,
nice plan

Bitton
Glad you felt it was not important to you. There have been questions raised by TPWD about the Legality of this Kill. Glad your not jealous neither am I. Because people do something all over the world does not make it right.

As no one has any sensible arguments for the actions of this Kill. I am done its been fun.

Wow, how do you know why I fish?

You either fish for food or fish to prove you can catch them.

Which is it?

Barrblues. Re read my post slowly. Maybe you will get it second time around. No need to argue on here. Go to the hunting forum and state your case. Im sure you can find a good argument there. That is clearly what your here for.

I can very easily prejudge an animal differently than a human. To place an animal on the same plane as a man in rights is both illogical and immoral.

Why did the hunter not have the legal or eithical right to take that gator? It was shot during a legal hunting season and other than several sloppily written and conflicting newspaper report I see nothing to indicate or presume any infraction of the law. How do you know that in fact the guide or someone else did not consume the tail of that gator. On the other hand if someone shoots a coyote should they be compelled to eat it?

Unless you have some reason to believe with a degree of certainity then such accusations are little more than slander.

Fish fear me He did not have the legal or ethical right to take that animal. If you catch a trophy Bass we are all better served if it goes back into the water or into a program like share a lunker. If you take a bear you should eat it. Killing just to kill or for ones ego is just unethical and sometimes illegal.

Just to put this gator in perspective this gator is exceptional, but not as rare as many assume. Put "big Texas gators" and you will find a number have been taken including a road kill near Diboll a few years ago. In 2007 the same guide led another hunter to a 12'7" gator in the same area.

Certainly a very nice gator just like a huge South Texas trophy whitetail, but not exactly unknown.
