Is this to be like a white light that is required on the back of boats for night use? Something I did was to get one of the solar yard lights that Walmart sells for a few $. It works great, and if it starts to get dim you can replace the rechargeable battery with a plain AAA battery.

Hey that's what I did too. Got my pathway light from Home Depot for under $4. Pulled the top part off and goop'ed it 3/4" pvc pipe.

Tek Tite This is what I use. It's very bright.

Tek Tite This is what I use. It's very bright. Yes it is...I think I burned my corneas the last time I paddled next to you before dawn. I use an ACR C-light attached to a piece of PVC with a small bungee and placed in a rod holder. As soon as the sun is up I can break it down and stow it out of the way.

I went ahead and spent the money for visi-carbon and am very happy with it. It's collapsable and very flexible. It also has a orange flag that doubles as a storage bag. I'm all about DIY stuff but this thing was calling out to me. I have a buddy that used a 2 dollar led flash light attached it to a piece of PVC then slid a ping pong ball over the top. Works very well.
