I use Pennzoil Premium Plus in my Opti. Good oil and cheap at Academy.

I run Lucas Semi Synthetic from Oreilly . Running 6000+ RPMs it has worked great for me.

The lower priced oil will run fine as long as it is TCW3 rated... If you use the low price oil add the correct dose of seafoam..... The semi synthetic oil will burn cleaner and smoke less... I use Pennzoil Plus....It is a blend.... The full synthetic oils are best but a little pricy if your engine uses a lot of gas... It is always a good idea to use seafoam and stabil or startron for todays fuels......

I don't think that you can use the same stuff for your weed whacker as you do for your outboard but as long as you stick to the marine outboard stuff I have noticed little difference. I think I notice the amount of ethanol in the gas more.

About 20 years ago I busted the crankshaft in my 200 HP Evinrude. I started wondering why and asking Mechanics, etc. I even called Evinrude. The first question I was asked is what kind of oil I was mixing. I said Shamrock and everybody kinda nodded like that was to be expected. I was told, at that time, to use nothing but top rated oil from Evinrude or Mercury. Maybe things have changed but I don't want another expensive lesson.

Evinrude XD-100.... considered about the best. The cheaper oils will soot up the exhaust and cause problems eventually. But gets expensive unless you run an E-TEC which burns less fuel/oil.
