8 tournaments at $5500 each = $44,000 just in entry fees. With 6 out of 8 tournaments and the Classic in the books 36 of the 95 have at least made their money back.

Estimates are it takes at least a minimum of $125,000 to fish the Elites. If that's true there are only 7 anglers out of 95 that aren't in the red at this point. Of course two paydays remain.

There are also some pretty good names towards the bottom of the list who need to win one of the last two to salvage a better than break even year.

Tough way to make a living. You better have some serious sponsors or be independently wealthy.

Yep for sure, I bet most popular pros make more from sponsors anyways but I's sure like to try the wealthy thing myself. My wife did some work for one of the pros and he paid cash for a $750,000 piece of property, he is half way down that list, so he has a real job that pays better than the fishing. cheers

It takes money to make money. I honestly don think those pros are "worried" about the funds. Just think about how much they spend in gas to pre fish everywhere, hotel fees etc. That's just the little stuff. I could be wrong but it seems like their fairly "well off" before they even start.

Maybe 10 to 15% fit this description. About the same percent or more are going broke out there. Everyone else is just getting by.

talking to Kreit at Brannans the other day he said right now it takes between 75 and 80 thousand dollars to fish a season on the elites. that's entries, gas, hotels, food etc.
