I have always been a die-hard Shimano user and still am. However, I would like to make a PUBLIC complaint about something most of you probably consider a minor issue.
I absolutely HATE the new design of the newest Citica and Curado reels!! It is one of the most uncomfortable designs I have ever used in a baitcaster. I have fairly small hands, but the frame is so skinny and awkward feeling that even I find it un-natural to hold.
I have 2 of the older model Citicas (from 2-3 years ago) that I absolutely love and are wonderful pieces of equipment to use. I just do not like the new design at all.
"Dear Shimano,
If it aint broke, don't try to fix it!!"
Sorry....my rant is over. I just purchased a new Curado 200E7 a few weeks ago and am not overly pleased. I just wish I had bought about 4 more of the older Citicas than I did, so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

thats a fresh can of worms you just openned up right there. I like the old green curados but would love a new e7 or e5. I used to own one of the citicas and absolutely loved it while I had it.
Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.

I'm sure there will be lots of varrying opinions on the subject....but I personally just do NOT like the new design at all. Skinny, sharp edges, too small, etc....I mean it's not like the older design was all that large in the first place. It was nice and smooth....and comfortable to hold all day. I just think the new design is garbage. Unfortunately I'm already out the $170 I paid for it.
If I could find some of the previous model Citicas NIB....I would buy 2 of them for sure....maybe 3.
For the record, I still love Shimano reels.....and I think they are the best on the market.

They were different, and I'm like you; I like the light weight but not the size-too small. My hands are average size. Twice when using them, I accidentally twisted the star drag with my left hand under the reel.

Don't get rid of the 6.3.1, one of the reasons I use daiwa. Plus the zillion fits my hand a lot better. If it aint broke don't fix it. The new reel is much better quality than the old ones though. And they fixed losing the stinkin brake pins which I hated.

A complaint against Shimano? That's proposterous!
You know the old saying
If it floats, flys, or f___s it is always cheaper to rent!
You have to decide which is more important.

I will say this about the new Curado.....I really do like the oversized knobs on the handle.

It's not really the size, but for some reason the shape doesn't fit my hand. I actually like how the 200d curado/citica palm better. The 100b/100d/50mg is my absolute favorite reel to palm of all time. It just fits my hand for some reason.

Another reason I prefer revo. I have and like my bantams. I have and like my E7, but it doesn't fit my hand. I still use it a lot, but it doesn't fit me well. Still a good reel, just doesn't fit... They all work well, doesn't matter the brand. Diawa, shimano, Abu Garcia, doesn't matter, they are all really good brands. You have to find what you personally like the best. Most people choose shimano, because that is what the most people use around here. No one branches out. I have a bunch of different brands and have settled on revos. They fit me best. Its not a question of the quality.
Its just like line on this site most use big game, seaguar, and/or powerpro.
Well I like Momoi for mono, 100% Trilene, and Suffix and Spiderwire Stealth....
Different strokes for different folks.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Shimano is probably about to replace the Curado with a new style in order to keep up with Abu Garcia.
Taking 5 to the weigh-in occurs when opportunity meets successful execution of one's preparation.
