Got all 4 of my wisdom teeth yanked last Tuesday and today I had my post-op check up thing with my surgeon downtown at 3:45. Anyways, sometime around noon I decided, what the hell, I'll squeeze in only my second ever LBL session before my appointment since I'd be in the area anyways.

I don't really trust my old school gear 100% on the main lake so I set up on the little peninsula by Longhorn Dam right around 1:00, fishing the skinny water side. I guess my reasoning was less room to run if I hooked into somthing big?

Well, about an hour in somthing just about yanks my middle pole into the water. (I dont have reels with baitfeeders or alarms so I use the "wait till it bolts for the water and try to beat it there approach")

After a nice fight I landed this healthy looking 17 lb fish. A new PB for me! Just like my last PB, not huge, but heck, that just means I can keep knocking them out.

Didn't catch anything else before I had to head off to my appointment. But on an unrelated point. I'm most definately back in Austin. Guy walked up about 30 minutes before I left weilding a giant bamboo stick and proceeded to talk my ear off until I got out of there. Topics of conversation included:

-How awesome his giant banboo stick was
-He likes to collect rocks
-How much the Mavericks rock
-How much the Lakers suck
-If I had a smoke
-If I had beer
-God
-Armageddon
-Climate Change
-And last but not least...Shark Tanks

Friendly enough guy though

Great fish, congrats on the PB.

And LBL is like no other lake I've fished as far as the colorful characters you will run into.

And the passing scenery at certain swims? Oh man, never a boring session down there. crazy

I like the colorful names--like the Homeless swim--still trying to picture that one. Boggles the mind.

The Homeless Swim is at the bottom of a hill and is somewhat secluded. There was a family that used to live down there before the condos went in and they stepped up enforcement.

Homeless is also called Bamboo and Quarter Million Dollar Swim.

I spent 4 days there at christmas one year. Awesome spot for someone living in the outdoors lol. though I think we renamed it to the poison ivy swim lol.

I actually believe his name was Francisco, but his friends call him "Cisco".

Sounds like I need to meet this Phil fella though.

Try loosening your drag after you cast out. You're going to lose a rod/reel! You can always tighten the drag while fighting the fish... wink

And good catches!

Well done and congrats on your PB

Cisco didn't happen to be on a bicycle with one of those annoying horns?
