Hey, I wanted to see if anyone did good this past weekend. I got into some trout in Chocolate Bayou this past saturday. Water was medium clarity and an outgoing tide. Birds were everywhere with people chasing them. I did the best sitting and waiting for the suckers to come along. Caught a couple on tails(mullet looking) but the most were caught one live shad. Once trout showed up, it was on for about an hour then it shut down. Is this pretty normal? Anyone else have any luck?

My next question is, How do you work the birds? I'm trying to get my trolling motor set up, is this a must? I figure I need to travel around the area and drift across it, is this correct? If I have a trolling motor, how do I fish it? right in the middle, or around the edges of the area or what? Thanks to all.

when fishing the birds try to stay on the outside of them casting toward the middle. trolling motors are great for this because you can follow the bait pod without cranking your big motor. If you are drifting try to line yourself up so that you drift into them without your motor this keeps from scare'n off the bait that the fish and birds are chase'n. If you can read there direction get in front of them and wait. good luck
