Got to Rockport Thursday night around 10. We were fishing the channels on the south side of little bay. Absolutely killed em. Working the submerged green lights in the channels we were catching reds on every other throw. We threw DOA's, salt and pepper plastics, limetruse, glows, and even a gold spoon and they were hitting anything that went in the water. Heck of a time recommend working channels closest to the gulf for best action.

Thanks for the report!

I'm going this weekend so any and all information you share I'll appreciate.

Is that area in Copano or Aransas Bay?

Where do you get the green lights?
I have seen them on boats before, I looked for them at Academy with no luck (in Austin)

And what hours were you fishing?

Again, Thanks for sharing

The area we fished was the southern end of Copano Bay there are several canals on the gulf side. Im not sure where you can get those green lights but thats the beauty part they are already there the people who own the houses put them out there and leave them on. We would go out around 10 after the lights had a little bit to get good, we would usually stay out thre until 3 or so, you dont want to leave there's so many fish. One thing is once you catch one or fight one out of one light move on to the next one because that light won't produce again for 30 minuits or so. But there are so many lights you just troll down to the next one and then work your way back.

JW,

I went to Rockport that weekend too. I didn't have a boat though and the weather got real nasty Saturday night-early Monday morning. Did you fish more then just Thursday night? I'll have to bring my boat sometime and try those lights. I can't say that I remember seeing any lights like that. Is it close to the Copano Bay fishing bridge?

I did end up catching 1 Redfish that was 30" while wade fishing. That was fun. What where the sizes of the Reds you were catching at night? I have never thought of fishing at night there before other then on the Copano Bay bridge. I usually go there in October every year for it too. Do you know if they maintain this feeding behavior in November at night too?

Thanks.

I see people come here and inquire about lights and pricing and areas and tackle and boats and such, and I think "why not use a guide for the first trip and learn it all and save money in the long run?" I mean, tak a guided night trip, learn where, when and how to fish at night for reds and trout and save yourself the hassle and expense of buying 4 different sets of lights and all of the assorted lures and tackle that you probably won't use most of anyhow, just to hopefully get a few items that work. Pay guide to show you the ropes, then you spend just what you need to get the gear you need to do that type of fishing, and you are set. That's my advice.

Hey Kiethscatch, the lights aren't near the bridge they are more near the residential areas on the south end. But we got down there on Thursday and fished Friday and Saturday night as well. We fished the first part of the night on Saturday then believe me we knew when the front blew through because we were in two little bass buster boats with nothing but a trolling motor that couldn't push us through the wind forcing us to drag the boat back to the house. But the 3 27+ inch reds on the stringer behined the boat made it all worth it. I agree a guided trip would be good I would love to go back down there and take one but for this trip we were in these tiny boats not the bay boat we usually have so we took what we could get.
