Here is the link to the site. http://www.caller.com/ccct/local_news/article/0,1641,CCCT_811_2195569,00.html

Apparently, they will dredge the channel. Would be good for fishing. Question is how long will it take and will commercial development take away from fishing potential. Article says 30 - 45 days?????

We will see.

Scott: Years ago every pass on 361 was open to the Gulf...I can remember those days...fishing was "Heaven on Earth". The uninhibited flow from GofM to the bay system was what kept everything alive and fresh...now I nearly cry when I go down there and see what I see. When they get through with this, you WILL see a difference in bay fishing - I promise!! Time frame - who knows, but it's worth the wait.

Corpus Anglers,

Who owns the beachfront where the Packery Channel will connect with the Gulf? If I understood the Caller Times arcticle there will be a jetty constructed. Seems like a new jetty would offer more good fishing for those of us who are boatless.

More than anything, the jetty will keep the channel from closing so quickly. Storms were what used to keep the passes open (I don't remember anything being dredged, but maybe so)...anyway, there came a point where developers didn't want anything open to the gulf...maybe we can get back to normal (after probably 30 years)!! Now, fish don't have many options when migrating to/from the gulf....we/and them will have one more. I can remember hearing folks talk about hooking tarpon in CC Bay, and you won't believe what Oso and the Bluff will be like!
