I'm back in town for Easter weekend and me and my dad did some fishing at Brushy Creek Lake Park yesterday. Got there around noon and through out a can of sweet corn and set up my three rods on banksticks. Got the first bite in less than 10 minutes and that proved to be the pattern for the rest of the afternoon. Had to actually drop down to two poles and even then I was having trouble getting them both baited and in the water before the next bite. I stopped counting after awhile but I think we ended the afternoon with somthing like 13-15 fish. All were in the 4-10 pound range except for this big guy. Sometime after I switched to two poles i saw this guy roll twice about 15 ft off the bank so I rebaited my third rod and casted where I'd seen him last. Bait wasnt in the water more than 2 minutes when I got the hit. Now I know he's not too impressive to most of yall who fish LBL and Lake Austin but I've only ever targeted carp in Lake Travis and various creeks and ponds. This guy was alot of fun on my 7ft old school gear and without a net. Ended up having to take a swim to land him. Didn't have the net so I didnt weigh him so I'd love to get some guesses from some of you more experienced fellas. Im gonna go 13-15? sound reasonable? Interesting tid bit too. You can definately tell the effect conditions have on these fish. Compared to fish of similar size I see on this froum from LBL and the like, this guy looked ooollld and beat up. Definately grew alot slower than the LBL fish.

WTG ON THE NEW PB!!
13#8oz Looks to be about right. Put a sling/scale on your list so you know for sure when you beat it.

Yah,I usually carry a net but didn't think to bring it that day. Plus I usually catch small ones so it's pretty easy to tell when one is bigger than the rest : ]

I use a Berkeley digital fifty pound scale and it's accurate to the tenth of a pound. Less than thirty dollars. Oh, and nice catch!

Yah, it's definately a nice park if you're just looking for tension on the end of the line. And I'd be willing to bet there are a few lumps in there too.
Actually started the day just down the road at Twin Lakes Park. Blanked but I didn't really give it much of a shot before I moved to Brushy Creek.
Anybody fished Twin Lakes? I know they're in there cause we use to chase them around the creek there during a summer camp I went to when I was little. They looked big as a kid, but who knows. It's a nice deep looking lake/lakes with lots of vegetation though.
