I am am fairly new to gps included in my sonar unit. I am fine on how to use sonar. I took out my navionics chip and plugged it into my computer and nothing. What kind of software can i buy so i can map out my routes and waypoints on my computer so i can transfer it to my memory chip/card. Where can you buy it ?

navplanner from bass pro or a similar outdoor store. do not plug that navionics chip into your computer, it might fry the software/data. you save your routes onto a blank SD card. nothing saves onto the navionics card. it is only for mapping.
the waypoints/routes are seperate data from the mapchip. think of them as two seperate deals. you have one chip for waypoints, and one chip for navionics. never save onto the navionics- only use it for readng your maps.

So the navionics chip is just for reading the maps..and if i want to transfer my SD card to my gps sonar unit on the map ..how would i do that ? I am already able to save waypoints into my unit and i dont have a sd card. All i have is a navionics chip.

navplanner is good.
you should buy a cheap 1gig SD card for your graph.
one of the navionics prostaff guys can direct you on how to do as you are wishing.
