 Surf Combo Help!!!

I'm thinking about buying a penn 555GS and combine it with a 10' or 12' oceanmater rod. I've heard about the rare earth magnets for the reel to give me further casting distance. I want the most distance I can get. I will primarily be bait fishing off piers and surf fishing. I'm 5' 10" and weigh 165lbs. and want to make sure I can cast the 12' o.k. Should I go with the 10' or 12'? Any replies are appreciated. Thanks and God bless!!! Dustin
