I'm planning a trip sometime soon to fish the Port O'Connor jetties. I've got a Top Spot Map and was wondering what areas of the jetties are the most productive (i.e. inside or outside and north jetty or south jetty)? Thanks

Ed, fish the outside near the end of south jetty.I would use cracked crab. break off shell and cut into four pieces leave legs intact. i would also try to fish a moving tide. I have caught many bull reds and large black drum in that area this time of year.

Freddy,

Thanks for the info. Do you use a slip sinker on the bottom? Also I read someplace that they also use a slip cork to adjust your depth in order to keep your bait up and off the rocks on the bottom. Do you ever use live shrimp or mullet? How far off the rocks do you anchor? Thanks

I use fresh dead mullet cut into chunks.
I anchor 40 feet or so off the rocks but closer is o.k. but i fish out away from the rocks. i sometimes use slip rigs but i usually use leaders i make that have a fixed position for the weight near the top.
I sometimes fish live shrimp near the rocks but i freeline them with no weight.

Ed,

Are you interested in a guided trip for trout and redfish at Port O'Connor?
