Wanting a new reel for saltwater use. Have used my freshwater gear in the past and would like to set up a combo strictly for the salt. I have revo's and curado's for bass fishing and think they are both good reels but would like to get whichever is going to be the most corrosion resistant. Any opinions on these three reels?

I use my curado 200e7 in the salt, i use it mostly for throwing the lighter baits with a medium light rod. For heavier baits I use the revo inshore on a medium or medium heavy rod, its a beast of a reel. Ive never used the orra inshore but ive handled it at academy and it is pretty sweet and smooth at that. If you ask me Id go with a curado for lighter bait to catch trout with and such and the revo inshore for bull reds. Just my $.02

I fish the Revo and Curado. I have had to do more to the Curado. The drive gear just went out. I rinse my gear as soon as I get home after every trip. That Abu is bullet proof but I prefer fishing with the Curado. Choose the one that feels better in your hand.

Ever seeLarry Dahlberg's big fish show? Now, he's probably sponsored by shimano, but he's caught Jack Crevalle that appeared to be 50-80 lbs (if not more) on the 300e and countless other big fish using that reel. I think I'd stick with the 300e!

I believe Dahlberg is sponsored by Shimano and that beef jerky company. makes me laugh everytime I see him get a big bite of jerky after catching a big fish. Sorry to go off topic but, Dahlberg is something else!
At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

It's simply preference if you ask me. It's just like all these other topics started on here asking, "What is the best reel to use", "What is the best rod for", etc. etc.. Try out both if you can, simply because you will get a million different answers/opinions on what is the best, and this will be said at that own persons personal preference. The best advice I can give you and any other person wondering what is the best..( fill in the blank), is to go out and try it yourself, that is the only way you will find out what is best, don't go on by what someone else thinks what is best because what is best for him/her will not be best for you. Go and test yourself what is best for you. Thanks that is my rant for today.

The question was not which is best, it was which will hold up better in the salt water. As stated above I already use Revo's and Curado's for bass fishing, I just wanted opinions on salt water use. Thanks for the rant anyway.

Well if the Curado malfunctions it won't take forever to get a replacement part for it. Curado would outlast the Revo IMO.
You know the old saying
If it floats, flys, or f___s it is always cheaper to rent!
You have to decide which is more important.

I own a balance of six Curado's to six Revo SX's. Each of them have their ups and downs. I have not spent a copious amount of time down at the coast but from my limited experience even in just simple maintenance the Revo's have my vote. The Curado's preformed admirably but the worm gear on two of mine seemed to not like the salt water, both tended to bind in one corner. After a quick clean and lube they were both back in action though. Whereas the Revo's seemed to laugh at the salt and preform better. just my .02

Go with a Citica. They have fewer bearings, but bearings in every place that counts on the reel. That will give you better longevity than the other options you list.

Well if that's your question then there isnt really a reel that will hold up any better than the other, that's going to be totally up to how you take care and maintenance your reel. I use bass reels all the time in the salt, and never had a problem with corrosion and that's with me having butterfingers letting my reels get dunked in the salt on almost every trip. Just use any rod and reel combo you want salt built or not take car of it and it will last you. Did you go try out that Orra Inshore? think you will like it, I went back and got me one but havent tried it out yet but man it is smooth. Ive had both the revo inshore and curado 200e7 for about 5 months now and havent gotten them serviced, only have rinsed them after a trip. Have opened both of them out to check them out and neither of them show any sign of corrosion, but this was done on purpose to see how "anti" corrosion these two are, and well they both are pretty much the same.

good call on maintenance. You SHOULD fully take them apart and relube them after every trip...You could get away with a magnesium reel with chrome plated carbon steel bearings if you did that...(least corrosion resistant reel I could think of)
However, if you're like most people and just rinse them, most reels are ok.
If you don't even rinse them and expect ANY reel to hold up, you're just asking for reel troubles.
