Ingredients:
  • tilapia fillets (cod, crappie, catfish, flounder, halibut would all make excellent substitutions)
  • crushed red pepper flakes
  • parmesan cheese
  • mustard
  • tobasco sauce
  • Zatarains Season Fish-Fri (Crispy Southern Style)
  • olive oil

First, rinse the tilapia fillets and pat dry. Next, take a bowl and mix enough of the dry ingredients (fish-fri, parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes). Take another bowl and put in mustard and a few dashes of tobasco sauce (to taste). Use only enough mustard to lightly coat the tilapia fillets.

Heat olive oil in skillet. Use enough oil to cover bottom of fish fillets. Dont get olive oil too hot too fast or it will burn! Lightly coat fillets with mustard mix. Then coat with dry season mix.

Place fillets in oil and fry; turning/flipping fillets and ensuring they are cooked thoroughly. Remove from oil and place on paper towels to absorb any remaining olive oil.

Serve and enjoy!!

Made this last night with rice and steamed vegetables. Mighty good.

I was a little skeptical about the mustard coating, but it was awesome. Mixed it with some Franks hot sauce and garlic.

Will be making this again. Thanks

Wish you could find a way to bake this. I tried it both fried and baked, and the fried version was good and baked OK. Main problem was not crispy.

See, its just that simple really. We have a lot of contributors here with probably incredible recipes but its the little SBS with pics that really seals the deal. Great job AWMiller! Looks great and will have to try someday. Let this be a lesson to all you/us amateur chef(not LKP, you're bonafide)posting recipes here. Thanks for your contribution in raising the bar. cheers

We use this one from the Foodnetwork.

Spicy Tartar Sauce

1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
