Just curious. How long will you use a bait or color til you switch. Some days I find myself switching alot, and sometimes I'm stubborn and fish the same thing for a long time.

It depends on my confidence in the bait and color I am throwing, but if I've gone over half an hour without catching one on a confidence bait then I'll switch

It just depends on the situation on the water. Say I'm in a tourney, then I might switch every 20 cast or so. Then go back to the orginal bait when I change spots just to make sure it wasn't the spot I was at. If I'm fun fishing then I tend to go a little longer say half an hour or so before switching up.

If I know fish are there, 10 casts, with varied retrieves so I know that they ain't biting that one then switch.

I don't switch that often. Probably every couple of hours, unless I know that there fish in the area and I am not getting bit.

I fished with a guide on lake fork several times that said color doesn't really make that much difference. He's been on the lake for a long time, fished professionaly, qualified for the bassmaster classic 3 times, and said he has never cared about color. i have seen the guy pick up a worm and catch fish on it, then switch and catch fish. he said it's more about presentation than color. that being said, i have been in the boat using the same color as the person in the front or back and outfished them 8 to 1 and vice versa. i think if fish are in the area, they will bite if you can entice them.

I'm kinda like txsuperman. I usually only throw a couple colors. If I am gonna focus and deliberately dial in a specific color then it will be one that you can't see. It will be the UV color. Otherwise, presentation makes all the difference in the world, and, location, location, location.
