Hey yall,

I went fishing twice since we got hit with the Winter freezes that happened early this month. Both of these times I didnt catch anything. Just some nibbles here and there.

Ive noticed that the water is still pretty cold (below 65 degrees) while the air temp is above 75. How long does it take for water to warm back up?

There is usually a 1-2 week lag.

Reports all over Texas(even Roberts!) of 60-degree water in lots of coves. Caught eight Saturday afternoon, but no biggun's--still fun.

Okay, I just got back today after a 5 hour fishing trip with the same results. Its been extremely windy too.

Before the freezes, I was catching at least 2 keeper-size every trip. Hopefully it will pickup for me again at the beginning of March (when I can go again).

It's the night time temps that are key to water temps and not so much the daytime.

At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

So I went at it again today, the water is warming up and finally got this 10":

I caught it using a 8" Power Worm (Grape, Blue Flakes).
As I casted in the water, I had a bit of an overrun on my reel. As soon as I cleared it, I saw my line moving 7 feet from one point to another. I ended up hooking him inside his gut (notice the blood on his fins). I was able to remove it, but Im hoping he'll heal up soon.

60 degree water is a blessing compared to last Spring. Water temps were still low 50's this time last year.
