My interest has been peaked by a couple of shows on TV lately, and was interested to hear experiences from any real noodlers out there with a story to tell.

Um, you gotta be a noodle to noodle. There is no way I would do it if it were legal!

+1. I ain't real keen on the idea of stickin' my foot off in a hole that could have anything on the other end. I'd be the guy to lose a toe to a beaver or get bit by a snake.

my buddy Jerry use to go in Oklahoma---those guys would sink some big barrels during spawn time....then get an air tank and go down and check them with almost zero visability in the water. He would bring back enough catfish nuggets to last for months--dudes were crazy! Rod and reel is fine by me....

Don't forget gators, as to making lairs underwater. Or is that crocs?

Personally, I don't & won't because I know some of the hidden dangers. 6' Cottonmouths do range up on the scale for sure.

My uncle (don't know how young he was when it occurred) told me of his Uncle Roy who did this a very long time ago & came in from time to time with a big Cat. He got smart (actually dumber in this case). He decided to attach his hay hook to his arm by securing it by roping it real good. So he would not lose his grip once he had a Big Cat. Oh, what an error in judgement that was!!! So he goes out & went under & eventually bobbed up thrashing & trying to gasp for air as he shouted, HELP!!!. Then under again, finally bobbing up from time to time & trying to gasp in some air whenever he could get his head higher than the water level. Everybody watched from the bank, but nobody dared jumping in to help. Due to roping the hay hook on so secure, he had forgotten that he might need to be able to let one go, in case it was too strong or big for him. Luckily, he outlasted its fight & brought it in before it started up again. My uncle said Uncle Roy never tied the hay hook on after that experience. It almost cost him his life.
