Katfish Killer cheese bait is a great bait if you are fishing in a boat fishing straight down below the boat over small amounts of Chum. Use a sponge on a hook and fish straight down. We limit out almost everytime we go out with this bait.

shad are great if you can get them

I like SureShot Punch bait when I am casting in shallow water. Some prefer Danny King punch bait and it is easier to find. Sureshot you just about have to order by mail.

Good luck, hope you and the wife catch a bunch, it is a good time of year to be out at night fishing.

One more thing, try to fish on the bank that the wind is blowing into your face if you are standing on the bank. If in a boat, anchor so you can fish the bank that the wind is blowing into. Good luck

Thanks for the tip. Going to be fishing off a dock that we slaughter the crappie off of but looking to hook up with Mr. Whiskers my favorite fish.

Rebel, Obiewan tells it pretty straight up on the choice of baits. I'm not familiar with the Katfish Killer dip bait.

I don't know where you are from? But, if you live in the metroplex area, the Danny Kings punch bait is available from multiple locations around Lake Lavon and Ray Hubbard. If you need a specific place let me know.

And, Bill's brains and cheese is available at Academy. Bill's is a dip bait rather than a punch bait. But, I fished with a guide last summer on LOP's who would use good eating sized shrimp split in half down the center line, then he would dip the whole thing down in this mess, extracting what looked like something the cat ka,ka'd on. But, he caught a pile of nice eating kitties on this set-up.

I personally prefer punch bait. And, SureShot is top shelf stuff, but you have to go to Weatherford or Decator to pick it up I think, or mail order it.
