I've tried it down there on Rayburn and Livingston and I just couldn't get it to work the way it does on other lakes. Not to say it won't work, but I've always had better luck with frozen/fresh catalpa worms, charlie, or chicken hearts. As always, shad for blues. Let us know how it works if you do find and use it. Good Luck.

Thanks guys, I found it at discount city in Jacksonville. Now I need to learn how to use it on Rayburn,I mostly bass fish and have just started catfishing this summer.I brought some dip bait back from Iowa and it seemed to work pretty good on the small cats mostly channels.anyone have any tips for catching some larger (3lbs or so)cats on Rayburn?

Everything I know about catfishing I learned by reading MikeC's posts. Use soured grain or range cubes to bait several spots. Wait 20-30 minutes and start fishing on spot #1. If no fish or only dinks, proceed to spot #2. If you get to your last spot and have not caught your limit of decent fish, choose better spots next time. That in a nutshell is the basic strategy of a lot of good catfishermen. Chumming up the fish is the key to catching good numbers of channel cat. (or you can fish under the cormarants roosts and let the birds do the chumming) Good luck MO [This message has been edited by Mo (edited 09-26-2003).]

WillieG, if you are catching smaller kitties and you want to bump your size up, move shallower is the best advice I can offer you without seeing your situation. I typically find the smaller kitties will be four or five foot deeper than the larger fish. Of course I very seldom ever wet a hook in water any deeper than fifteen feet since channels are my primary target fish. From now to the end of December I likely won't look for channels in any water deeper than ten feet and most will be less than six feet. Guys this is not an absolute, but it has worked too many times for me to discount it when moving into a new area. ------------------ Mike www.WhiskerKitty.com
