Me and my buddy Mike caught some catfish yesterday at Conroe and when I cleaned them one of them had an interesting object in his stomach. It was the head of some sort of rodent. I will try to post the pic.

Oh man, this is kinda gross looking! I'd be glad I looked in the stomach first before eating that fish. I'd have some serious reservations about eating that fish. But, this "object" looks like it could be a head of something that has started to be digested, it looks bloated, swollen, etc. I'd like another angle on the picture if possible. But at first glance it looks like it could be a rat, again swollon, smoothed out from the digestive process. From now on I'm looking in the stomach of every fish I catch.

That's the only photo I took. It looked kind of like a sqirrel head to me. I always check their stomachs to see what they are feeding on.
As far as eating the fish, I already did!

Man that is wild. It could be a baby nutria or coon or rabbit. I killed a huge chicken snake on the water at my pond and when I cauht this 13lb blue cat a week or so later it had it in its stomach!!. funny thing is that I left it half way on the bank when I left! I guess those catfish are Gods clean up crew

I enhanced the image on the yahoo page. If you click on the Full size tab it will blow it up so you can see it pretty good.

hey rogc, it does look like a baby nutria or rat. That fish should be fine to eat. Lord knows what goes on that we don't see or find.I seen rats swim across ponds before and been devoured.however in elgin this dove season i shot a whitewing that landed in a pond that is a catfish/brim only pond. I kidd you not the bird was flapping and got devoured by a cat.Never would have belived it. Nice fish!
