Channel cats and blues: 25 a day mixed bag minimum 12 inches.

Flathead cats: 5 a day and minimum 18 inches

David gives you the State Regulations, but some lakes have unique established limits. For example Texoma only allows 15 channels or blues, and I think their minimum on flatheads is 20 inches.

From what I was taught, the mudcat has a huge head, and a short body; kinda like characutures(*sp). They can have a yellow or brown color to them, and they usually smell pretty bad.

Channel and Blue Catfish have a deeply forked tail fin. Yellow (Flathead) Cats have a squared off tail fin.

TPWD has a pretty good online fish identifier at http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fish/infish/species/fishgrup.htm.
