Hello Everyone: Im going to fish a pond that has some catfish in it this weekend. I would like some advice on how to Bait a Whole out?? I've heard use Sour Grain before. Never actually tried this concept before. Also How soon before I go fishing should I bait this out. Should I do it the night before or 2 nights before or 3 what is the best way to accomplish this. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Do you have some soured grain? If not, it's probably too late for that. You could throw some range cubes out. if they don't come in thirty minutes, then you are in the wrong spot. I would try to get a tow sack and fill it with range cubes and put it in the water. Also throw a few cubes out at the same time each day to keep the fish in the area. in a couple of days there should be some fish. I'm not too experienced at this but iv'e learned a lot from this forum as well as whiskerkitty.com.

Just gotta be a wize a, it's a 'hole' not a whole. However, you could bait the whole hole.

Unless the pond is of substantial size chumming should not be necessary. Warm water carries scent very far. A pond will just require introducing a bait natural to the environment and they will come to you. ------------------ The Texas Catfishing Resource www.whiskerkitty.com

I fished in a pond recently that was 5.5 acres in size and used Danny King's bait and caught some cats without chum. I moved to several different places on the pond and was successful without chum.

Question where is the pond on somebodys land are in open field? If its somebody's pond they feed there fish.If its a pond nobody owns could make fishing better cause there hungry.Try some beef liver, shrimp, worms, shinners.Look and see what kinda bait is in this pond.Might try a small perch that you catch out of this pond and use him whole and alive. It might take longer but if there's a good cat he'll bite if they are biteing.Only other way to be sure theres cats in a pond is trot lines are throw lines.ponds strange like that. ------------------ D.E.D.
