minn kota better bracket lime time warratied composite shaft ,quietest motor and if you had a motorguide it even has a mg hole pattern so you wont have to drill new holes,in that ange i like the 65lb it has the smaller diameter motor and seems to go throung the weeds better than the larger ones

if you can afford about a grand do the 80 # maxxum digital, best value for the money I think.
check out cabelas for the refurbished minn kotas they usually have some good deals.

minn kota PowerDrive V2 70 with Sonar this is the one i was looking at but dont know if I should go with the cable drive.

Depends on you. I am starting to like the Motorguide, but can't make myself to do it. I'm thinking I'll go to Minn Kota when I upgrade my OMC trolling motor.

do the cable steer, just one less thing to go horribly wrong in the middle of a tournament, go ahead and ask me how I know this.

and dave the minn kota is the way to go.

thats what I thought but can't find one with everything I want. I want one with the built in sonar.

I've had mine for about 6 months. I don't have the universal sonar. It is awesome!
