Has anyone fished the private lake there? Headed there october 17th. Wondering if the fishing is really that great. I have heard a lot of stories about big large mouth.

Very nice place. At least a 4 star. The lake fishes like any other small lake. If they are on you could catch many 7 to 10 pound fish. Good luck.

Honey Hole did a show there a month or so back. He had the owner of Fun-N-Suns kid with him. They both had quite a few fish. You might check their archives for a copy.

I have fished there many times. The lake is beautiful however the fish are starving for bait. They are long and skinny. It should be easy to catch 30-40 fish if the weather is decent but the largest one will be about 4.5#. It will be LONG like a 7 pounder but all head.
This is not bashing Rough Creek Lodge. It is an awesome place and the rooms and food are EXCELLENT. It is pricey though. One night for two people will cost you about $700 by the time you leave.
Have a good trip.

Went there on a company outing about 2 months ago. I fished out of one of their lil boats (trolling motor only - that's all you need)and tore um up. People are dead on too, lot's of long skinny fish. With all the moss in that lil lake, bring plenty of weightless soft plastics and you will catch them. My biggest was about 5 lbs, but had the head of a 10 lber....
Very very nice place, but it's way too expensive for me to take my family on such a short little trip from the metroplex.

It is expensive. Catch plenty of fish most in the 2-4 lb range.

Me and the wife went a few weeks back. We fished from the dock we caught bream & hooked them under the fin. wife hook one that went 6 or 7 but horsed it to much & line broke. other than that a lot of skinny 1&2 lber's on flukes over the grass.

How deep is that moss you are talking about? Is it hydrilla? Those are the questions you need to be asking. By Oct. if the hydrilla is 15 ft. deep that is where you want to be fishing with my dropshot rig. Pics. are available upon request. That is how you get the huge fish. They will be under the hollow if it has the hydrilla.

Smaller fish over the grass mats and in the backs of either two coves. It's not an easy fish back there either with all that grass it's overwhelming times. The one thing I wish I had was a depth finder. The only time I went it was windy and it forced me to fish in a way that I wasn't used to but it paid off. I talked to a guy who had his own boat the day before and told me where he had marked depth change and some sort of cover. I fished the area with a crank bait until I snagged the brush or whatever it was that was down there. After I lost the crank I switched to a Carolina rig and began to catch bigger and better fish. Honestly I think if u target the banks and grass u may catch a bunch if fish and may get a big one but if u want size u have to fish harder and deeper. There are rocks on one shore line opposite the lodge. It's deeper there and may fis well with a shakey head or crank bait. It was windy and my mourning fishing time was over and I needed to head back and be with the wife so I didn't have a chance to really work it. O and don't over look the corners on the dam and the dam itself. Very deep but still has shallower water for fish to move up onto and feed. Don't forget a frog and or buzz bait I'm glad I didn't.
Overall I caught 22 in about 3.5 hrs managing one fish that was 7.32 on my handheld scale. Great food, excellant service, and a very nice vacation for me and my wife. We went on a non weekend and took advantage of the great reduced rates. Also FYI there are tons of activities for your kids while you and the wife do your own thing as well.
