Calaveras Lake Caught them all on spoons (silver and gold). Largest was 31.5", smallest was just over 28". Released one. The catfish in the picture is about 14" long. Shawn [This message has been edited by ShawnQ (edited 08-20-2003).]

We were fishing off of the crappie wall, and they were caught around 7:30-8pm...
No fishing guide, however, I've heard Jeff Snyder knows how to catch them, with Southwest Charters.

rent one, $25 for half day, $50 full day...
Not much of a boat, but perfect for two people to head to the crappie wall...

Headed back out there today with the girlfriend...
Right when we got there the wind picked up to at least 20-30mph. We headed out, and drove by the crappie wall...one guy caught a fish while we were there, however, it was slow. The water was even choppy inside the canal, which is very rare.
I couldn't keep my boat still on the wall, so I opted to head off. We cruised around for a while with the depthfinder on and just tried to find a few good spots for next time out. I only casted a total of about 5 times on the wall...and didn't wet a line anywhere else. The wind really picked up on the way in...
I really just wanted to get the G/F out on the boat, it was her first time...I was hoping she wouldn't like the boat, and it would give me another excuse to get a new one, but she liked it! Doh!
Anyways, I will probably head back out this weekend, if not sooner...I found a few 'humps' or creek beds that I would like to try out if the crappie wall isn't happening.
Tight Lines! Shawn

Nice catch there Shawn. Hey let me tell you, if you're there at the right time you got it made. Funny how those dang fish bite at a certain time, guess they get hungry, huh? Especially if you have the right equipment , right?

These fish are really weird...
I've only fished the wall 4 times, and I know that 3 times isn't really enough to try and find a 'pattern'... But, as of now, I can't see anything about one time that even resembles the other time.
The first time they were hitting: It was calm, hot, and midday The second time, they didn't hit at all. THe conditions were EXACTLY like the first time. Yesterday, they were hitting really well. It was windy, and late evening. Same conditions today, and nothing...
I guess it is just hit or miss...and there is really no way to pattern them. I would really like to find a way to catch them away from the wall. I know it can be done, I just need to find them I guess.
Tight lines! Shawn

Hey ShawnQ. Hey its Chris. Nice fish man!!! Next time I am in town you and Jeff better take me out. We'll just have to get all the women together and then the men can go out
There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.
