I did something today I have not done for years. Went to the lake by myself. I always bring friends or kids or grandkids but thought it might be nice to just worry about myself for a change. What a great day. On the water about 6:30 am. Landed first fish at 6:50 and had so much action and fun that I did not leave the lake till 3:30 this afternoon. I really do not know how many Sandies I caught but you gotta know that I was in fish almost all the time to stay out there that long as hot as it was. I would guess I caught around 70 Sandies or so all day, maybe more. Most were 12 to 13" fish with a dozen or so that were 15". Yes I did measure a few to calibrate my eyeballs. ALso caught 5 catfish 3 of them about 15 inches the other 2 were dinks. 4 LMB all pretty small and 1 little Crappie. I was around some schooling fish several times but could not catch anything worthwhile with topwaters or slabs. I caught the great majority of my fish today trolling a #13 pet spoon behind a jet diver. Considered switching to hellpet but the jetpet was doing so well I just stayed with it. The best location early and late was trolling about 50 yards off of the rocky point on the south side betweeen Opryland and Scotts Marina. I fished there from 6:45 till about 9:30 and caught lots of fish. WOuld have caught more if I had not tried to slab instead of troll as much as I did. I can usually do very well slabbing but not today. Went for a boat ride about 9:30 and found good marks and success for a few hours trolling along the North shore up by Rocky Point. Best trolling depth was 20 to 25 feet of water. I use a line counter and was letting out about 50 feet of line on a 40' jet diver. Sure enjoyed Grapevine today. Will enjoy my bed tonight.

Jet divers come in 4 sizes. The green ones are "40'" divers. With 55 feet of line out it runs about 18' deep on my rig.

Sounds like you hit them exactly the same place I did on Friday. They were stacked up off of that point. I could see them on the fishfinder. It looked like a brushpile that I knew wasn't there. I got an exact GPS reading which made it real easy. They were surfacing all around me but topwaters only produced 6-7 inch dinks. I caught 4 good ones on a Tailhummer but everything else came on the HellPet. They just wouldn't hit the slabs or I didn't hit the color (I tried to match the White/Chrome of the Petspoon). I went home with 25 sandies 10 1/2 to 17 inches, and 2 LMB that were 11 inches. I did notice that the shad they were feeding on were REALLY SMALL, about 1 inch.
I put in at 3 A.M. and fished for LMB until the sun came up. I think I caught 3 small ones in 3 1/2 hours. Had several other bites but didn't get the hook set. I was really worried until the sandies took off.
