Well me and the wife decided on going to the fishing barge on lewisville in search of some catfish but nothing biting to well wife caught one undersized cat.
So i put on a brim hook and started fishing for brim but brim is not what i was catching for the first time in my life i was fishing for 3 to 4 inch shad and ended up catching at least 15 shad i have never done this before it was a trip, was using
worms and they where hitting it like they where starving.
There was some ppl there catching small crappie with the occasional keeper all and all a fun night of fishing with the wife.

I have been to the fishing barge a few times. Haven't had a whole lot of luck thought. I think maybe once in about 5 trips we actually caught 10 Crappie that we big enough to keep. I can't remember what time of the year it was. It was a couple of years ago. But, it seems to me we were wearing sweats in the morning, about 10 am and shorts by 1:00pm. I think it may have been sometime in March or April.

I haven't been to the barge in a couple years (got a boat) but when I did go I usually had a great time catching whites. I would set up outside in the corner where it is deepest. (If you are standing on shore looking at the barge I was on the far side on the left) I would get there about dark or after and plug in a trouble light (8$ at wal mart) with a 150 watt outdoor floodlight pointing into the water. The outdoor bulb won't bust when it gets splashed. In no time I would be catching whites. For every legal sized fish I would catch ten 10 dinks and every once in a while a good crappie. I went through a lot of minnows but it was fun. That was before I really learned about slabs, pet spoons and little George so I may have done better with artificials. Its a great way to take a kid fishing but hard to fill the freezer.
