Whoa, what a morning on Whitney, bite still on early. Had a tough time catching up bait again but it paid off, took my clients to a ledge that has some trees down around 32'and fished just above the trees. Don't remember ever retieing so many rigs, had a blast though, the bite was early, shut down after the skys got high and blue, but managed to put fish in the boat, missed a lot, had a lady and her two boys about 9 and 10 and a friend of her's, fish would hit and down in the trees they would go, the boys didn't have enough experience to turn most of them and I was busy retieing, rebaiting or netting,(needed a deck hand) so as a result we lost several good fish. Left that hole to go make a potty run and then went to find a bite where there was less cover, found more fish but they weren't biting, went back to first hole and the bite was over there. Called it a 1/2 day and licked our wounds and went and cleaned fish. All in all a good morning, clients where happy and I was wore smooth out, gonna have to break down and make a shad run and put some bait in the tank at the lodge.

High Tech we went sat morning erarly, at aquilla by 5:00 am,no luck with the shad, but we did not try by the dam. Then to uncle gus and caught a few perch and 2 shad. Then had boat trouble, but I did learn some spots on the lake fishing with archie. Can you catch the shad the evening before and keep them alive till the next day with a 50 gall tub with the airator. Or will the majority die by morning.

Thanks Marc

Yes Marc, that is what I like to do a lot of times, Gizzard Shad are a lot easier to keep alive than threadfin.

HI randy
whadiya think of artificial baits? in the past i have had good luck with heavy slabs cast towards shallow points and reeleed fast towards deep water. I havent been striper fishin in many years. butt in the old days that was my method to the madness.how is that method in todays hitech world.

Hey Marc, havent seen you since the Restaurant auctions. Yes slabs work well, on Whitney the winter time is the best, either vertical jiggin or chunkin and windin under the birds.
