I fished with some regulars from Bellaire, Tx, Dr. Carol Thompson, Doctor Linda, Nurse JoAnn, and husband Pete on Saturday. Water was high at Somerville so we decided to go to Fayette instead, great choice for the customers. I say that because they worked my tail off.

We anchored up first to fish the 2-3 foot water where we caught 45 the day before. Not one bite in 15 minutes. So, I told them to pull in they were not there. We headed to deeper water, like 15 foot deep.

Now the fish at Fayette are running pretty big, so here I am with 4 coolers on board, two Five gallon buckets to use for seating, their snack cooler, and five adults. I figured we could only get about 20 fish to the cooler. The next spot we tied up to was in some cedars. And those cedars eat gear if you are not really experienced at pulling out big fish. And eat gear it did. I tied on over 25 hooks lost for various reasons, cedars or fish swallowing them.

But, the fish were piled up in a 10 foot square area, with 5 cedars in that 10 foot square area. Only thing to do is go in and get em and pay the fiddler with some lost hooks and fish. The customers had to take turns on that corner of the boat so that all could get in on the action.

And, action they got. 87 large cats, with several 5-6# size...four coolers so full the lids would not shut and 4 more fish on the floor that would not stay in the cooler. We quit at noon with the best day for fillets I have ever had.

I figured the fish at a good 3.5# average, very few 2#ers. That means we had 300# of fish on board, which yeilded 12 one gallon bags of full of fillets. Most gallon bags full weight about 7# or so.

I have had days where I had a five gallon bucket of fillets and one cooler of fish still to clean. But today the five gallon can was full before I finsihed the second cooler and still had two more coolers I had not started on. Think about it, 12 gallons of fillets will not fit in two five gallon cans. Good thing they hve lots of family to share with. They will be back in two weeks for another round.

All fish on CJ's punch bait, under cork, in 15 foot of water.

Weldon, you've twisted my arm enough. I was going to do some night fishing on Belton, but now that I've seen your posts I'm headed to Fayette in the morn. It will be nice to get some fishing in anyways, next weekend is Fathers day and I want to take my dad and get him on some fish again. If you're out there tom. don't be following me to my honey holes now grin

How did you like that wind???? I was there for my first time to catch some bass and got tossed all over the place. We fished the dam area and caught some good ones.

Google Maps has it listed as Cedar Creek Reservoir. If you look up 'Fayetteville, TX', you'll see it to the left.

Thank God for fish !
