Wow, it has got hot on us and so has the fishing! Finally one season is not running two or three weeks behind schedule like everything else did this year. It got hot outside and booooom.....the Big Hybrid set off like a rocket the past week. I've been starting shallow right at daybreak and throwing the big stuff. I am targeting only the bigguns. 5" sassy shad in glow or chartreuse. I have been going with bigger baits and keying in on only the hybrid. Another bait that has been a big boy producer this week has been the Big Kahuna Spoon from www.moestackleshop.com . Chartreuse is the only color I have of those right now (hint hint Mike.... ) but I bet the other colors will nab a few as well. The full moon this week kinda shut them down after the morning bite leaves and then about noon the fish fish are really ganging up off the big points in 20-25 feet of water. Summertime slabbing with Fiesta de Plata slabs has been the ticket this week. You can even soak a sassy shad on a 1oz jighead in those same spots and pick out a few more hybrid in the middle of the day. We had a couple days in a row that we were slabbing a sassy shad and caught a keeper hybrid on what seemed like every other cast out deep for nearly 2 hours. It was amazing!

Man today was a weird one! I have been on the water every day for what seems like a month now. They have been acting as if they are set on an alarm clock. Catch several limits of big hybrid before 7am, go catch a limit of giant sand bass from 8-10am, then go catch more big hybrid out deep from 10-1.....I mean it has been a steady pattern. Not today though, it was like a different lake completely. Finally gave up and tried some different things and found them late in the morning. I was getting worried for a while, but guess it all worked out
