I was driving home to Rowlett for lunch today and taking my usual route (the backroads),I use the backroads so that noone will spot me out of my work area which happens to be Plano and other northern cities, anyway I happened to see a boat off of its trailer on the side of the road. This was over off of Bunker Hill Rd. which is out by Rowlett Creek. It was probably mid 80's,fiberglass bass boat. Now as most of you probably know, around that area of Rowlett Creek it is notorious for people dumping trash, couches, and just about anything else that they dont want anymore. I didnt get the chance to give Sachse police a call, but I will in the morning, besides they probably already know about it. It's not everyday you see a boat off its trailer on the side of the road.

Speaking of boats off the trailer--
what is the deal with that area off
hiway 175 coming in to dallas from the south.
Just before you get into the city , there
is an area littered with old boats. Looks
like where old boats go to die. Very much
an eye sore. Does anyone know the story
on how they got there and why it has
never been cleaned up?

That area on 175 is a boat salvage yards. Over the years the river has flooded and scattered them all over the place. I even saw one that had floated up into Keeton Park Golf course from all of the high water in the early 90's. YOu can get a deal on a used boat there, but you have to sweet talk them to get the paperwork for you.

I went fishing yesterday afternoon at the Elm fork spillway between 482 and 183 behind the Dr Pepper Bottling co. and there was a boat that got washed down from god knows where, balanced precariously on the spillway, barely hanging on with the rushing water cascading down all around it over the dam!

Abot 12 feet long, maroon colored, fiberglass, 2 man boat, no motor that I could see, and what looked like a blue "State of Texas" seal kinda like the one on a Game Warden's boat or car. Looks in good shape, a major mystery.

Couldn't get to the boat to beach it, water was just too swift.

But I DID get to the sandies, crappie, and black bass below the dam!

On the boat salvage yard--
I'll bet that is that was North Dallas
instead of South Dallas, They would have
to clean that mess up.
Good luck
