One of my grandsons is coming to town this next weekend, and I want to put him on some surfacing sandies on Lavon if they are surfacing yet. Anyone got any information??? Thanks ------------------ Rick

Best place for some surefire sandie action will be the power generating station discharge. If you launch from the ramp next to the power plant, head toward the discharge, and tie up at the end of the chain link fence that extends into the water, or one of the steel pipes that sink off into the water where the fence once was. Cast across the small discharge, and soon as your lure hits the water, start cranking! Not fast or slow, just steady, consistent retrieval will do the trick. My lure of choice is the one sixth oz. Rooster Tail, color not that important. I rig up on ultralight spinning rig, with 6 lb test.
Lot of small fish, but enough keepers to get the batter and skillet going! The nice thing is, there will be an occasional black bass(good sized), and some pretty good schools of respectable sized crappie roam through here as well, in search of the incredibly abundant shad and minnows!

We got into surfacing sandies on Lavon Saturday morning right at sun up. They were on the shallow flat just west of the dam and stayed up for close to an hour. Between the two of us we probably caught 100 fish, but we released them all because they were pretty small 8-10".

Sorry, I meant EAST of the dam.
