I tried to catch some fish today, but had no luck at all. Not one all day? Put in at the bridge (talk about a low bridge) and motored over to the humps by the dam (west side) and there were some fish, but they had a bad case of lock-jaw. Motored down to spillway flats and saw only two boats. One looked like he was trolling and the other was slabbing. They looked like they were coming up dry too? Was I in the wrong spot? Also tried that first cove and point across from the dam, same story.

I think it may have been a tougher day on CC than normal.. I went with guide Steve Bradbury and caught over 100 sandies with 82 keepers as well as some small hybirds (all under 18") and yellow bass at the lower end of the lake. People around us were doing ok, but most were watching us catch fish. The only reason I say tougher is that he had to work real hard to get us on all these fish. Slabbed several humps and had a really good time.

I was out there early yesterday (5:30 a.m.) with a friend and we didn't make it happen with slabs. I think we caught two sandies on slabs and switched over to hellbender/petspoons about 9:00 am. Found some pretty big magnum sandies in 31-32 feet of water and wound up keeping about 40 between the two of us. Also caught a 15 inch catfish on the hellbender/petspoon rig. Surface water temperature was 76.5 degrees when we started and 80.6 degrees when we quite at 11:30 a.m.

Saw Steve Bradbury at the ramp when we were putting in and Billy Seaman back at the marina when we were pulling out. Also saw Al? who recognized me by the Robalo in big letters on the side of my boat. All in all, a pleasant day on the lake!

SW good to see you yesterday.

I tell you i was slabbing thru June last year and trolled some, but slab bite turned on a few weeks ago and has been hot, but water temp in the low 80 has me thinking slab early and troll later, then troll to start and slab in the evening. we will see.

i have been fishing same spots and action has been dwindling down from the first time, but have been able to find fish for slabs later...

WEEKEND WARRIOR... had it been like it was on to four days before, you guys would have been done and back at the dock essentially by 9, but heck i would not have seen you dive in and i do not go out and limit out and go clean, it is a paid trip for so many hours and we will quit if you want to, but we will sure try other things for other fish as well. same thing applies if we are pretty close to limits and time is running out, i stay as long as we are catching them or going to try another spot. heck i just love to fish.

thanks for booking a trip and lets hook up on some of our metroplex lakes and go hit it when my boat is back from CC. Bring Reggie and Allen too, they crack me up! Especially Reggie!

Steve,
Reggie is a riot, always has a good comeback. I usually just throw something out to see what he'll come up with

I knew I should have bought a breakfast biscuit for Alan. He likes to eat more often than I do, and that says alot I could have stayed out until you ran out of gas!

Barry and I were doing more that watching you guys! We caught all the big ones while you guys were fooling around with the Parks and Wildlife Dept!

Yep,

I knew you were heading down there at the ramp and thought i could out run you...lol, but we stopped to check a spot and then got stopped, but glad you got them early and glad we got down there too.

I think there were a few boats watching you and Barry and us catch fish. Two other boats were doing good as well that I could tell, but how can you watch others when you are catching fish? Everybody down there was close to each other, but fish were there and it was nice to visit with you guys and other boats while we were all catching fish, that is what it is all about.

Real Glad to see the TPW out there as well, they need to be out there, first time I have seen them in 4 years out there and he told me if a boat or rec lake lice gets too close, get the TX numbers and let him know, he will handle it.

Smallblessing,

How much did you pay them to give us a hard time? I bet you were thinking about that head start you could get and sent them our way ) If I get out to CC again soon, I'll be sure to return the favor How did you two do?

They did real good! I think they kept close to 50 big sandbass or a few short, but caught quite a few more. He takes Barry to catch the yellow bass(that is the long running joke from now on ) His boat was just a little quicker then me so he avoided getting stopped, but the game wardens cannot check everybody, but I am glad they were out and hope to see them more often.

good to know the t-top attracts them as well now if I can just get it to attract two piece bikini's I will be in business and will book lots of trips that way.LOL
