Hi, I have a 15 foot flats boat thats also 8 feet wide, I use it in salt but was wondering if that would be ok to use in small freshwater lakes. My friend loves bass fishing, dosen't own a boat and was trying to get me to fish in those small texas lakes with it.

Do you think this would be a problem other then looking kinda funny.

Thanks for thoughts

I have a 21 foot bass boat and there have been plenty of times (especially in spring)when I wish I was in a small flats boat. You will be able to catch plenty of fish out of your boat just pick the water you are going to fish a little more carefully and be aware of what the wind is supposed to do. You wouldn't wan to run the middle of Rayburn in a 25 mile wind in that boat, but honestly I don't really want to do that in my boat!

Have fun!

Center consoles are designed to handle the bigger chop, better than any bass boat out there. If you wanted to drift fish, or troll, your set up. If you wanted to catfish, sliming up a CC is a non issue. The CC has more room on board. The only draw back I see is the higher profile when trying to use your trolling motor in a crosswind.....that and it would look funny. Lol.

I have Kenner CC and have done nothing but bass fish from it (only because I live so dang far from Port A and the gas cost for towing is really outrageous). As mentioned above, the wind can be a problem with the trolling motor but a true flats boat generally has a lower profile than a traditional CC bay boat.

At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

Not exactly! If you read he said he has a 15' flats boat, not a bay boat, it is not going to handle the "bigger chop better than any bass boat" it will be a great bass fishing boat but it isnt a bigwater boat and it doesn't have a high profile.True flats boats actually have a lower profile than a bass boat. I stand by what I wrote.
